Renowned Data Scientist Joins Real Estate AI Platform Cherre as Chief Technology Officer
Linkedin, Salesforce alum Dr. Ron Bekkerman will guide AI-based investment strategy and expansion for advanced real-time data and analytics platform
In his role, Bekkerman will oversee all aspects of Cherre’s technological strategy, including the expansion of Cherre’s artificial intelligence-powered CorePredict platform, which empowers its clients – including insurance companies, banks, and institutional investors – to make better investment and underwriting decisions by predicting asset viability, pricing, and other key factors.
“As one of the most respected data scientists in the world, Ron will be an incredible asset for Cherre as we continue to enhance our one-of-a-kind platform and expand our reach throughout North America,” said Cherre CEO L.D. Salmanson. “His unrivaled degree of expertise and vast experience building valuation and prediction models make him a perfect fit as we continue to transform the way real estate data is gathered and analyzed in the 21st century.”
Bekkerman has a long record of success as an executive at technology and financial firms, including a stint as Chief Data Officer of Israeli venture capital and private equity group Viola Ventures (formerly Carmel Ventures). He has also served as CTO of patent analytics start-up CandorMap and was a founding member of the Data Science team at LinkedIn. In addition, Bekkerman has worked as an advisor to numerous successful startups including event software as a service Bizzabo, SME lender Fundbox, and email analytics platform Implisit (acquired by Salesforce), and served in research and software engineering roles for hi-tech companies including Google, HP, and Motorola.
Bekkerman holds a PhD in machine learning and artificial intelligence from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He also served as a professor at the University of Haifa in Israel, where he directed the school’s Big Data Science Lab and led its Entrepreneurship Program. He co-edited a book titled “Scaling up Machine Learning,” and has published dozens of research articles in top-tier venues. He currently serves on the Editorial Board of PLOS ONE.
“Ron brings a wide-ranging skill set that fits with Cherre’s mission to provide access to more accurate, actionable real estate data,” said Cherre Co-Founder Ben Hizak. “As a veteran of many of the most innovative and successful technology companies in the world, he will be invaluable as we work to make our platform even more essential to our growing list of clients.”
Cherre provides large enterprises, insurance companies, banks and investors with a platform to collect, augment, and resolve property data in real-time by integrating thousands of disparate data feeds in the notoriously fragmented and unreliable real estate market. Modeled after high-frequency trading platforms, its artificial intelligence-powered platform allows investors and underwriters to connect and resolve all of their internal and external data to Cherre’s platform, and receive accurate and up-to-date information such as property history, demographics, and market comparisons to be used in advanced analytics and power better decision-making.
Cherre’s platform has experienced significant growth since its formal launch in December 2017, attracting very high-profile clients including the largest banks, insurance companies, and investors in the world.
