Joining the Cherre Family

I like working at early stage startups 🙂

I’m a Snow Leopard

I recently moved from the data engineering team to the data science team. My work has involved finding ways to join Cherre’s data with data sets that might not be directly related to real estate, which gives us a picture of the qualitative characteristics of NYC neighborhoods that are hard to measure. For example, can we make use of a public data set of calls for EMS service in NYC? Does the time it takes to travel to a hospital in a given neighborhood validate our intuitions about the quality of life or correlate with the value of properties in that neighborhood? Can this be used as a feature in a machine learning model for valuing properties? Much of my job is coming up with questions like these, and then finding data that I can analyze to formulate answers.

Currently I’m working on an analysis of the expected impact of sea rise will have on New York City, which specific properties will be affected, and how much property tax revenue might be lost in the coming decade as NYC coastlines become inundated on a regular basis.
